Sunday 1st Nov 2009

It is very upllfting this morning Reverend!

Tears are an expression, no words can describe, that what my parish priest said this morning, and yes, people, absolutely! Infact it is the outpouring of the deepest kind ; the innermost feelings that no expression can capture. It is a massive intensity of feelings , deep desire, longing .... bursting forth into a flood of emotion, and transformed in a universal language comprehended by all.
.
People! tears are also the touch of God . When we feel his presence, the joy overwhelms and sometimes, gushes forth in tears. Certain phrases in the Bible stirs our feelings and bridge the gap between us and our God. The hymn, "Higher Hands" ( to Marie that is) , arouses emotions and strengthen the ties between God and those whose hearts have been touched. People have you ever experienced certain periods of droughts when God becomes almost non-existent as you rushed about tending to the cares of the world and then one day, you came into a worship session and suddenly someone said something and that causes a flood of emotion to sweep over you and you just involuntarily (within yourself that is) reach out to God and in that instant, the ties were restored? I know that sounded surreal but... you had, experienced such moments , at some point of your lives have you not???
.
It was good learning this morning, bringing light to some confusing context in the gospel and shedding light on some very common terms like "meek, "poor in spirit", "those who mourn". There is a great difference taking the words literally and in the correct context to the teachings of our Lord. Last week at the adult initiation class, there was also a very beautiful and meaningful session on "how to pray". A Thousand Applause! You must forgive Marie, her comments, she hungers after knowledge and she is very appreciative of nutritious soups for the soul.
.
Written without favour and from her heart!
