A Sunday's Recollection

One of the most beautiful teachings in the bible is family love and how to uphold that love. Husbands and wives love each other till death do us part, children honour and obey their parents and continue to love them even when their mind is gone and in turn, parents should not push their children beyond limits that they end up frustrating their parents. Each has a responsibility, a specific role to play in preserving what is called -the institution of a happy family and a home. In so doing, Christian values are instilled and kept alive , Christ -mas is practiced every single day of our lives. The light of God shines in our lives and that radiance, brings the inner joy and peace which gives life the meaning to live and journey.

This morning's reading and homily brings to mind, beautiful pictures from yester-years, the christian values practiced in the home of a distant cousin, from the Methodist church. He used to live just next door to the church building itself. Marie used to frequent their home and the picture imprinted in Marie's memory was the way the whole family- young and old, honours, love and respect their widowed mother/grandmother, a headstrong woman in her late seventies. Their family was a wonderful example to the whole church community; people dropped in all the time to say their hellos to this grand old lady. She remembers, Chinese tea flows all the time..
.
News has it that this family was very blessed, their children prospered in life and that cousin and his wife were very loved and respected by their children until the day, the Lord calls them home, because they taught their children well...and their children in turn instilled the same good values to their own children..
.
People in villages of yesterdays, really, really carried out the commandments of the Lord to the letter. You will be able to know a christian just by his behaviour...those were the days ...and those were the values that stayed on in Marie's heart and memory and the prayer is that her own family will be blessed with good christian values and blessings as well.
.
The wonderful thing about God is, He remains by your side, no matter how you questioned Him.
Good things, bad things, they all happens for a reason. Marie told the Lord, the night before she was robbed that she was going to close her eyes and just hold on to His hand and let Him lead her on in whichever direction is best for her. Then it happened and the human in her questioned but the morning after, she awoke with the intense feeling that God never left her side, no, not even for a single second. It was a very secured and special feeling, an out of the world feeling ! Thank you God ! Whatever the reason for the "misfortune" she firmly believe, God will reveal!
.
Marie received an ocean of encouragement ; so many people prayed for her., especially her siblings and their families....thank you, and God Bless -all you kind people out there. A special note of thanks to Nancy, sister! the grace of God be upon you!
